I’m sure you can agree that not every day is a good day. Some days are great while others are not-so-great. In the context of Israel’s situation during Jeremiah’s time, their bad days were a result of sin and disobedience.

However, what about the bad days that happen to those of us who are trying to be obedient? For example, prominent prophet Elijah endured a mental battle right after a major victory against the enemy (1 Kings 19:1-4).

Jeremiah 17:7 translated to fit in a everyday & personal context, we can see how the truth of trusting in the Lord, no matter how hard, is somewhat magnified for people who battle with depression.

The Bible teaches us that the entry-level-blessing for those of us who love Yah is the forgiveness of sins through Christ’s death on the cross. But sometimes the personal fight with depression causes us to forget all the blessings we can claim through Christ moving forward.

Find hope in the new life that Christ’s Resurrection gives to His followers!

At times it may feel like Yah is not near and/or the overwhelming doubts breaches the mind, but the enemy can’t take away the love given to those who trust in Yah (Romans 8:38-39). The enemy will try to have you think that, just because Yah is not working in a way we expect Him to, means He is not working at all. This is not true.

The devil is a liar, and here are the facts I try to remember myself on my not-so-great days:

  1. According to John 15:4-7, I have union with Christ.
  2. According to Ephesians 2:6, I’m seated in the heavenly realm with Christ.
  3. According to Romans 8:18, My current and/or future sufferings do not compare to the greatness that is and Who is to come.

No eye has beheld, no ear has heard, and no mind has comprehended the wonders Yah has prepared for those who love Him.

Children of Yah have the power to break free from the life-draining cycle of depression. Though I’m weak and my body worn out -seemingly more days than not – I’m confident of a more glorious body to come (Philippians 3:20-21). So, if you or someone you know battles with depression and is on the teeter totter bouncing between despair & faith, let Revelation 21 & 22 be your encouraging hope and confidence. As the Psalmist reminds us, in our darkest hour and our most difficult struggles, Yah will strengthen us, but we must stay obedient to His will (Psalms 56:8-13).

Please remember…

times of deep discouragement makes way for times of revelation to be that much sweeter.

An encouraging song that helps me to break free from the tiring thoughts of despair: Acquired in Heaven by Beautiful Eulogy

Shalom,

Risa
