Proverbs 13:20

Recently I got an air purifier; since the pollen in the south is potent my sinuses have been going haywire!

Seeing as how my quality of life was being jeopardized (and probably a hint of agitation because of my frequent sneezing & coughing), my considerate husband decided to get me an air purifier. 🤧

These machines have come a long way over the years. I may date myself by saying this but, oh well 🤷🏾‍♀️ I geeked out when I saw that our new air purifier was a touch screen & equipped with a feature that not only tells me when I need to change my filter but also tells me the quality of my air, too. When turned on, the digital screen displays the surrounding air quality by percentage rate. This gauge shows me in real time when the air I’m breathing is either going up in quality or down because of pollutants 😬.

Did you know, the people we choose to associate with have the power to either enhance or pollute our spiritual environments?

Like the air purifier, the Bible, when used correctly, has the power to help us filter out the influences in our lives that low-key wreak havoc on our “spiritual sinuses”.

The company we keep falls under those influences.

But, who we decide to “hang out with” goes much deeper than simply linkin’ up with a friend. Who you “hang out with” involves what you watch when you stream or the folks you follow on social.

The people you continually choose to give your time to, shapes them into the company you keep. The actors we admire, authors we aspire, TikTok influencers, and content creators, can have “influential access” into our lives.

Does the company you keep honor God & love others?

Consider it like this:

Technology gives us the ability to watch, listen, or talk to different types of people wherever and whenever we want! We don’t have to part from them; we take them in our cars, into stores, to our hair appointments, to the coffee shops, and even to the toilet! The list goes on. Influencers can saturate our lives with their content if we let them.

We must be cautious though. Whatever has the power to influence us needs to be examined with a spiritual lens. What we allow to hang around us reveals what we value in our hearts. So, choose your friends (content) wisely.

Like a mighty air purifier, may the Word of Yah cleanse out all the pollutants (bad company) lingering around in your atmosphere. In Jesus name. AMEN

Biblical takeaways

A good friend makes you better (read Proverbs 27:17)

True friendship is found in Yah (read Psalms 1:1-6)

You become the company you keep (read 1 Corinthians 15:33)

Avoid befriending the world at all costs (read James 4:4)

Love you, but Jesus loves you more!
